To carry out tours, THE PANGEA PROJECT only selects local operators that care about development issues and follow the guidelines of a sustainable and soft approach to tourism development. By travelling with locals YOU encourage these people to build up their network and experience, while WE help them to improve their services and products. |
| Prevent Income Leakage |
| Relying on local businesses prevents the repatriation of profits generated through local services. Our locally based tour operators aim to organise only transport and accommodation and engage local partners in the respective regions wherever possible. Income generated at restaurants, hospitality businesses, and by operators of local excursions remains entirely in the local economy. We aim to provide the local population with the opportunity to participate in the tourism industry and earn an income through their own effort. |
| Promote a Responsible Form of Tourism |
| Tourism on a small scale is more likely to have a positive effect on local communities providing economic, cultural, and environmental benefits. Moreover, small structures are frequently preferred by local communities since they minimise ecological and socio-cultural risks. The focus on small-scale tourism development also reflects Pangea's philosophy of cultural exchange between YOU and the host. |
| Build Local Know-How |
| THE PANGEA PROJECT is continuously working together with local providers to improve their service and enhance their products. This helps increasing local tourism know-how in developing regions. And it is part of YOUR contribution to sustainable tourism development. |
| Finance a Development Project |
| Signing up for a tour includes a voluntary donation to Pangea for a development project in the host region. Wherever possible YOU will visit the respective community to receive a first-hand impression of YOUR donation's impact. |

| All tours are offered by local tour operators to Pangea Members. If YOU are not yet a member, there is nothing easier than signing up. With the annual membership fee of currently € 30 (no automatic renewal) YOU help THE PANGEA PROJECT to continue our development work and to create an exciting tourism product for YOU and for all of us.
